Was just browsing online, looking for any fascinating news on super robot I know, I stumbled upon this post from CartoonLeap.com, an artist’s showing off his talent in rendering Gurren Lagann female anime characters, Yoko and Nia, into 3D. The CGI works were mightily impressive, no doubt about it. Gives me the impression the artists is into character modelling, rather than game development (considering how he’s done the excellent job in accentuating Yoko and Nia’s sex appeal!).
Though… I was rather disappointed why there’s no 3D rendition counterpart for the main mecha hero, the self-titled “Gurren Lagann“. (see below)

So I felt something wasn’t quite right there. After, all our giant friendly crazed-robot should deserve the same kind of recognition as everybody else in the series.
….So I went ahead and search further to find another artist who’s done a similar work for our friend here. And low and behold. I found someone who’s done just that.
3D Gurren Lagann Rotation by ~Ultimatetransfan on deviantART
If you click on this panel, you will direct the artist’s online art page on DeviantArt.com, and you see Gurren Lagann in 3D CGI. The rendetion on him is really superb and wow. I went thinking “How on earth did he manage to accurately capture every detail of Gurren’s mechanical parts and design so well?”. Not to mention its wings! Here’s another thing. It’s in 360 degree rotation! And since it’s a Flash animation embedded file, it also means you get to zoom in the “moving” picture by right-clicking on it, and go “Zoom In”. And you’ll a whole bigger picture of everything upclose. It’s incredibly super! Now that’s a real cool CGI work that really made my day. :)
