Gundam Unicorn: Blue Ray/DVD for sales

Posted on 20 April 2010 by admin

Hey everyone,

It’s been insanely ages since I’ve done any updates  to Generation Mech blog, other than highly-rumored Gaiking movie that’s due to come out in 2012.   Been spending weeks on trying to apply for my work visa and new passport from my native home country of Malaysia… And boy! They sure don’t get any easier at all!  Certainly taking up a huge proportion of my time.

And now that my contract work just completed last week, I now have a plenty of time to catch up what’s been missing for the past 2-3 weeks in the world of Generation Mech blog.

Back to this!

Now I heard that Gundam Unicorn OVA series is now out on sale online back in mid March.  But it’s sold only exclusive via Amazon!  It’s selling for a retail price of USD $40.00.  I’d say it’s not a bad price for Volume 1.  (Each volume is one episode.  The OVA series said to have about 6 episodes).

Would love to pay for it.  But just not sure about the crazy shipping fee Amazon proposes.  (which works out something like $30 – $40 and it takes around 2-3 weeks before it arrives at non-American soils.)

So if you’re keen to get this copy while it’s still out with them, check out the link with them.

Gundam Unicorn Merchandise on the go

Posted on 19 March 2010 by admin

It’s been more than a week since my last post in the beginning weeks of March.  It was more of friends catchup, rather than focusing on blogging work when it should be…

Nevertheless.  I’m back to posts a few more interesting notes during my absence.

Whilst it came be seen here, we have plenty of Gundam Unicorn merchandise on display.  Since its late February premier, people starting to come up to this shopping complex called Makuhari Complex in Tokyo. Lots of excitement are brewing all over the shopping complex with several of its toy exhibition around the complexes.

All pictures are sourced(and copyrighted) from Gundam Info.

Plenty of impressive range of Gundam UC toys to be seen.

At the end of the page there, you will find several commentators expressing their thoughts on the Gundam UC products covering everything from magazines, artworks to electronic devices and gave the public audience a good view on why they are so hot for sale!

Really neat huh?^^

Really wish I could buy the entire store all to myself, if given the crazy opportunity to do so.

Kill Bill’s student villain: Starting her singing classes?!?

Posted on 09 March 2010 by admin

Now that Gundam UC is happening underway, there’s this one little surprise I uncovered lately.  But I couldn’t seem to put a finger on it….

Does anybody remember this actress?

Recognise the skirts?  The socks?  The Japanese uniform?  And the swinging metallic ball with razor-shapped blades stickin out??!?!

Boy, she was nasty for Uma Thurman’s nemesis!

And 7 years later, here we have her performing as a singing actress for the recent Gundam Unicorn movie and she’s singing its openining theme,

Check out her videos below! (her music video vs the movie trailer)

Gundam Unicorn in Taiwan

Posted on 20 February 2010 by admin

Image sourced from My Cartoon.com.my

Now that it’s done in Hong Kong… We now have one in Taiwan!

That’s what my little birdie told me after it showed me this link from Sunrise.

Tracing back to the Taiwan’s link,  it’s said the Gundam Unicorn’s release is on 6th March 2010! Not only that they will be a massive nation-wide sales of Blue Ray/DVDs on the market for this 12 year-old franchise.  It’s available in Mandarin languages as well. (Huh, go figure. :) )

According to the Taiwan’s site, they originally had plans  for its advance screening, supposedly held on 26th Feb 2010.  However, it’s been revised and extended till the first week of March so many Taiwanese fans will get the better spectacle of fun on that day such lucky draws to get into its promotional DVDs stand, special booking and toy collection, etc, etc

For more latest, check out their pages.^^

Introducing… Japan’s Gundam Unicorn Voice Cast Crew!

Posted on 09 February 2010 by admin

After watching the previous trailers, I went on to uncover further scoop trailers on the cast and crew behind the production.

After reading this from offical Gundam Unicorn page, I went ahead and found the footage video of the voice cast interviews.

They’re certainly very energetic and enthusiastic young bunch! All looking hyped-up for the movie Spring release!

The Japanese UC Voice Cast Crew – Part 1

The Japanese UC Voice Cast Crew – Part 2

BTW, these footage videos are pretty old BTW, dated like back in August when I was away on Europe holidays. The interviews come into two parts. Each ran for about 5 – 6 minutes long. Why didn’t the author just record the entire thing into one stream… I have no idea. But that’s no longer relevant as long as they’re available to view online.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with any subtitles. You might as well enjoy the whole thing while you’re here. Maybe good for those who wish to brush up their Japanese language without the need of subtitles? ;-)

After rushing back from work yesterday, I went online to check out more Gundam Unicorn movie trailers since my last post.

And… Sure enough! Here they are. ^^

Ready to impress online crowd of Gundam aficionados all over the world!

First trailer is the promo on Gundam Unicorn, how the story has finally come to the final chapter after 30 years since Universal Century came into existence. Whilst the second trailer is more of a teaser trailer of some sort. Both of them come with the subtitles on, if you turn on their caption son the right side of the control panel.

Looks very impressive so far!! :)

Gundam Unicorn: Hong Kong Premiere

Posted on 03 February 2010 by admin

A week so ago, Sunrise made a big announcement that they’re planning to bring Gundam Unicorn into the big screen at the world premiere in Hong Kong on 6th Feb 2010 (in three days time).

Several online (and offline) comic and manga publishers throughout the Asian region are keeping a keen eye on that, especially with helping out the ticket sales. Expecting that it’s going to be massive on the day of its worldwide release.

This is so fantastic! After watching the trailer (short version) below, I feel so looking forward to book a plane ticket to HK and stay there for overnight accommodation to just watch the film.

All that effort for 2 hour+ film! (Yeah I wish)

Crazy. I know.  But at least, I won’t be only one who’s that excited to look into this!!!^^

Japan’s Anime Industry: Taking a fresh look into making ‘tangible’ business

Posted on 22 November 2009 by admin

After reading this headline from MyAnimelist,  there will be some drastic changes going on with the way anime business is conducted in Japan with the recent announcement of Bandai’s dropped plans to broadcast Unicorn Gundam on TV.

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn

Instead, they  decided to do two things.  One, having its theatrical release,   Two, having its online streaming.  With these approaches, they claim that they can combat with the industry-wide issue of declining DVD sales in the current market, hoping that things will turn around for the anime industry.  One of the arguments also suggests (and supports) past outstanding performances by Kara no Kyoukai would prove to be the solid indicator on how much more other anime firms can benefit from this so-called new-found business model of online media marketing.

Yet, in the forum, people were not wholesomely enthused with Bandai’s ‘enthusiasm’ to conduct such business practices as they believed the reason Kara no Kyoukai fares so much the better just because of its one-hit wonder of success so it would be very hard for Bandai to emulate that level of success.

Read more from the forum.
