Ah. The great summer. Where you have all the incredible delights of having crazy fun under the big round sun. All the warmth you get is definitely self-indulging… And that’s the weather I’m looking forward to get away from this chilly winter blues of the southern part of the equator.
But no I can’t! Especially when Gainax already made plans to release Eva 1.0: You Are [Not] Alone films across the entire continent of North America, on every American and Canadian cinema complexes there is, according to this link. From there, you’ll find that most of US/Canada cinema complexes will have it filmed around the end of September and bet many accolades of Evangelion fans will be swamping up the queues to watch it. I do envy them so much!
I tried to look up the southern hemisphere counterpart for our film release in equivalent but to my astonishment, I realised this film was already released like almost 12 months ago. As we express sigh as in common New Zealand slang, “Well, Bugger that…”. And it looks like our New Zealand International Festival won’t be hosting any of Gainax’ films any time soon.
Oh well. At least I did watch the DVD release of the film so it wasn’t too bad. :) Anyhow, if you are living in the States or Canada and you’re keen to see this movie(or those you haven’t seen it), check your local movie times/schedules and be sure to see it. I watched the film myself and I say it was fantastic, sharp, edgy but controversial at the same time to watch. Recommended for mature audiences as the content contains aplenty of sexual references and mild amount of graphic violent scenes being depicted.
